In an almost too-well-hidden abandoned garage in Battersea, this pop-up bar is somewhere unusual that works.

Located off Parkgate road, you have to look down a side street to find it and will think you are walking into an abandoned car park, but will delightfully find yourself inside a converted garage. And a warm one at that!

The floors are concrete, the walls are brick, pieces of plywood hang from the ceiling, long wooden dining tables with metal chairs scatter the space and you get the feeling that you are drinking somewhere you shouldn’t be, which is always fun.

They have creatively lined two of the bar’s walls with chalkboard and supply various colours of chalk so you can play hangman while you drink, draw, or wait to see how long it takes for someone to get drunk and draw a large penis…

The atmosphere is relaxed and even when it’s crowded, you feel like you have room to move around, no claustrophobia.

The bar doesn’t serve food, but if hungry, you can get a takeaway delivered there… boom!

They have great cocktails, my favourite being The Cucumber Cooler made of vodka, apple juice, lime elderflower and cucumber and the rest of the menu is as impressive. Try The Lady Jaunty, made of portobello gin, earl grey tea, lavender syrup, Chambord and lemon… yum.

When it gets warm, this will be a great spot to hang out as the rest of the garage is just a large, open space. At the moment there is a ping-pong table set up in one corner, but hopefully one summer’s day they will replace it with a DJ and have a huge party.
